Re: Welcome to the bcv list

Thanks indeed for setting this up, I hope we get enough participants to need it!

I've attended the last three of these meetings, Avante, Diebold and the "comparison shopping" session on Saturday.

I share many of the concerns that I've heard mentioned already and at the meeting on Saturday. I've read some frightening documents detailing how to tamper with one of these systems undetected and also seen some specific accusations of vote manipulation on the internet, and feel this is simply too important an issue to ignore. I've been alarmed at the lack of public participation myself, so I'm very encouraged to have met some of the folks on this list and hope to see this issue brought to greater scrutiny by citizens as soon as possible.

The previous two vendor presentations were videotaped, if you have the time to watch them, perhaps you can get copies of the tapes from Linda S.

I will prepare the research I've got later this week once I've seen all the vendor presentations.

I also suggest that we try to meet again in person to discuss how we can be most effective in protecting citizens voting rights. There are other groups that have been active in this process with whom we should try to connect, and probably others that are concerned about this issue but don't know how to participate.

Thanks again for setting up this mailing list and getting involved in this issue.
