RE: Hart InterCivic presentation materials up
I missed the Hart presentation (as well as others from the finalists). When
we (committee members) narrowed the field, Hart and Avante were at the top
of my list. FYI - Sequoia wasn't even on my list.
Besides the great job that you've all done by posting the Hart info on the
site, I am interested in knowing what people who were there felt about the
Hart equip?
Some background that I would like you to all know about is that I was sort
of clueless at the outset of this committee as well. Since I have run for
office (C & R) and have been playing the elections game for a while, I
thought I knew a bit more than most. Probably do, but that didn't mean that
I wasn't going to learn more. Kell helped as well as Al.
The thing that both Al and Kell have been making me see so clearly is the
need for the voter verifiable ballot. Maybe you'd be shocked to know that I
think that voters should be able to keep a copy of their ballots? Yeah, I
can't see what all the secrecy is about. Its my vote and I should be able to
tell anyone that I want to.
In any case, Al created a little flow chart for the committee that I think
works really well. Only problem is that it is a bit more expensive than the
county has in mind. A what price do we give up Liberty?
So the solution that I am looking for is a DRE that outputs a paper ballot,
and that that paper ballot is what gets counted. Period.
Some proponents of HAVA are actually trying to do away with paper ballots,
while others think that it is a requirement. The Act is poorly written and
leaves lots of room for imagination and lawsuits.
Can anyone here tell me if Hart was able to demonstrate a method to use
their DREs to produce a paper ballot?

Subject: Hart InterCivic presentation materials up
The representatives from Hart InterCivic distributed two documents to
everyone who attended their sales presentation last Tuesday. They
distributed a printed copy of their presentation slides, and also
distributed some sales collateral.
For anyone who missed the sales presentation, these documents have been
scanned in and are now available on-line at
