contact congress about HR2239 - Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act of 2003

The Verified Voting page is very straightforward and action-oriented:
  http://www.verifiedvoting.org

We're now listed at their site. Here is some colorado-specific
information from them - we need to get our congress to support HR
2239, the Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act of 2003

Please forward to your friends!

Neal,

Thanks so much for contacting us!
I've added you on our Colorado page:
http://www.verifiedvoting.org/stateview.asp?state=CO. I graduated from CU,
so my heart is really with you in your work.

Your email is very serendipitous! Perhaps you realize we are in the middle
of an URGENT campaign to get HR2239 passed before the end of the session
(one week, maybe two). This is our best chance (and possibly our only
chance) of ensuring a paper trail in the 2004 election. It's having an
effect. 16 new co-sponsors have signed on in the last 2.5 weeks. We could
use your group's help in Colorado. Please ask your group and all their
concerned friends and family to call or fax these Representatives and ask
them to support HR2239:

Diana DeGette D 1 (She supports but isn't a co-sponsor)
Mark Udall D 2
Scott McInnis R 3
Marilyn Musgrave R 4
Joel Hefley R 5
Tom Tancredo R 6
***Bob Beauprez R 7 (Is "concerned with voting integrity" but isn't
co-sponsoring)

**Beauprez is particularly important.** As you may know, all 61 co-sponsor
of HR2239 are Democrats, which gives the unfortunate impression that this is
a partisan issue. Beauprez, being a sympathetic Republican, is therefore
particularly valuable.

I looked at a CO district map
http://192.70.175.79/State/map.asp?state=CO&scope=&command=find&name=_self&cat=0&map=0
His district takes in much of Denver and may extend somewhat into Boulder (I
can't tell for sure from the map) So some of your people may be in his
district and certainly they know people in his district. Please have as many
constituents (and others) call and fax his office urging him to co-sponsor
this bill and, better yet, to form a coalition of concerned Republican
Representatives to co-sponsor this bill.

(Looking up this info on Beauprez has made me realize that a large group of
my ex-in-laws all live in his district. I'm going to press them to contact
him.)

Also, please contact your senators and ask them to introduce a companion
bill in the Senate. Again, since they are Republican, their support could
advance the realization that this is a non-partisan issue.

Wayne Allard R
Ben Nighthorse Campbell R

Please keep us informed of anything you find out. Good luck!!
