The CO Dem Minority Caucus will be meeting this Saturday and Sen Sue Windels
would be amenable to taking suggestions on this topic to the state Dems to
consider.  It might be a way for them to come out on this topic and perhaps
they could at least add their voice to a call to extend the deadline beyond
Jan. 4th.  She would need a briefing from us tomorrow to be able to do this.

Sounds good Mark,

That is allot of organizations to get on board in say 4 weeks.   Government
will not "really" be working the last couple of weeks in Dec. and getting
them to decide anything, sometimes, is very hard.   With the deadline for
filing being Jan 1, 2004, I believe that we have to set a deadline to gain
the other organizations support (maybe end of Nov.) and then send out our
request.  The daily camera editorial board is a good start but it seems to
me we would need to have a meeting almost everyday from now until the end of
the month to gain the amount of support you mention.  We also need a new web
page on our website to indicate what groups are in support of this request.
How many of these groups do you feel we can get on board by the end of
November?

I think this approach can lead to success when it's organized by a coalition
of prominent organizations. If the BCCVV can draft a resolution in similar
format to this, and then get it approved and endorsed by many other
organizations, political parties, and government bodies, then it carries
much more clout then just originating from a "focus group" like ours.

A few suggested organizations:
-Boulder City Council
-Boulder County Democratic Party
-Green Party of Colorado
-Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center
-Colorado Communities for Justice and Peace
-Colorado Progressive Coalition
-key State House reps
-U.S. Reps. Udall and DeGette
-The Daily Camera; Colorado Daily
-etc. etc.
