There are many ways in which system hacking can be secured. There are even
ways in which we can be sure that the code in the box is the same code that
is in the development lab. However, if a wide audience of qualified tech
weenies can't see the code before it goes into the box, then how can we be
sure that it is not flawed, or intentionally exploited.
The enemy is commercial enterprise that wants to keep the code secret.

Point well taken, but Hackers could be interested in thowing an election in
a particular direction. Being that the Republicans seem more interested in
going after crooks in foreign countries then here, they might be the
beneficiaries of such activities.
