Fortune magazine has rated DRE voting machines as the worst technology of 2003.

Notice that they think the DRE machines are worse than the implanted identification device that destroys your privacy (that only got the runner up position).

Also, here are some links about Boxer's push to get paper trails by 2004

They are all pretty much the same - there are a ton more out there - it's nice to see such wide coverage on the issue.

And for those I haven't sent this to.

Sequoia uses the DES algorithm in their products: http://www.sos.state.oh.us/sos/hava/files/compuware.pdf  (see page 208  )

This is very concerning to hear - since the DES algorithm was cracked in 1998! You can buy a book on Amazon.com that details how to do it.

or go to www.Amazon.com and do a search on the phrase "cracking DES".

It also doesn't help that Sequoia hard coded the encryption seed - it's 1024. (see page 208 of Ohio report)

Nice to know that Sequoia is so up to date on their security knowledge... what is even scarier is that the company that did the Ohio security evaluation didn't note this as one of the security risks with the system...
