Please Join Coloradoans for Voting Integrity Legislative Efforts This Thursday
This e-mail is being sent to all folks who have signed up for the CVI mailing list and being copied to the Boulder CVV list in case any of you are
interested in joining with a Legislative Committee to help strategize language and positioning for CVI to support efforts underway in the CO
legislature to call for paper ballots. We will also discuss ways to address purging of votes (e-poll books) as part of HAVA.
The votes are in and we will meet this Thursday the 18th from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the CVI HQ building, at 2801 Youngfield Dr., Ste 360. Please
call 303-231-1031 to RSVP or respond to this e-mail.
Pete Klammer, one of our Board Members, has agreed to chair this effort and we will be addressing both the CO bill and resolution language, as
well as inviting interested legislators to meet with us if their schedule permits.
As more info develops, we will let you know. Thanks again for your interest and any contributions you can make. If you can go to the CVI
website, you can rsvp there and/or contribute any thoughts or ideas you may have for draft language. See
http://www.countthevotecolorado.org and go to Forums to see copies of the language of both documents.
There is both a resolution, authored by CO Sen. Moe Keller (which can be found in the legislation forum on our website) and a bill, authored by
Alice Madden, which can be found both on our website and at Rocky Mt. Progressive Network's site, at http://www.rmpn.org.
These documents only address paper ballots and do NOT address purging of voter rolls or addressing the need to allow for recounts to use
paper if original counts used machines. Our group hopes to offer suggestions to address these other two issues, and welcome suggestions
and ideas toward that end.
