BBV update: Embezzler programmed system to connect ballots to voter
http://www.blackboxvoting.org was updated today with
more documented malfeasance, mainly swirling around
Diebold, as usual. BBV at one point declares,
"Everybody out of the pool, we need to disinfect it".
I've evolved to believe that we should scrap the whole
e-voting mess, in favor of optical scan paper ballots
ad infinitum. I think the best articles I've seen on
the mess, which I concur with, are Robert X.
Cringely's 2-part piece:
Pt. 1: No Confidence Vote:
Why the Current Touch Screen Voting Fiasco Was Pretty
Much Inevitable"
http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/pulpit20031204.html
Pt. 2: Follow the Money: Why the Best Voting
Technology May Be No Technology at All"
http://www.pbs.org/cringely/pulpit/pulpit20031211.html
an excerpt from part 2:
"As for voting itself, I think we have made a horrible
decision to solve this problem with technology. While
the voting technology we have been considering is
flawed, the best answer doesn't have to be some other
voting technology that is somehow better. We turn to
technology because it supposedly eliminates human
error. I suggest that we add humans to the process in
order to eliminate technological errors. And we'd
save a lot of money in the process."

Court injunctions are needed to stop this graft
infected e-voting fiasco before it does more damage,
up to and including the big prize in 11/04. As BBV
appealed a month ago (see their archive:
http://www.blackboxvoting.org/oj/archive-1.htm ):
"Injunctions needed!
We have two months, folks. HR 2239 is nice, but it is
a long-term solution. The brutal truth is, there is no
way to correct the problems with this system -- or
even analyze the software that has been kept hidden
from us, examined only by a broken certification
system -- before the primaries begin in January 2004.
We need an emergency, interim solution
We are unlikely to get such a thing passed by
Congress.
These systems are insecure, they cannot be fixed (no
pun intended) before January, so we need an immediate
moratorium on their use. We need to go back to paper
ballots, hand-counted, for the primaries and we need
to jump on that now.
The only way that I know of to achieve this is through
legal injunctions. Starting with the Diebold states,
and there are 37 of them, we need to start going to
court. I have 65,000 documents, and I believe we can
make the case to pull the plug, but I need more
attorneys, in more states. I am especially interested
in connecting with attorneys for Florida, Colorado,
Georgia, California, Maryland, Arizona and Virginia.
However, any state will do. If you are with a citizens
group who is moving forward on this, contact me
immediately: blackboxvoting@xxxxxxx
Everyone out of the pool. I believe we have the
documents needed to remove this cancer with a few
clean incisions, and I am willing to invest my time
24-7, and provide my resources, to anyone who can
bring a lawsuit to the table. Have some. Need more. Do
it now. "
