RE: NYTimes: Florida as the Next Florida

Joe,

The good news is that with paper ballots the problem was detectable and
verifiable.

With a DRE, nobody can prove that votes are recorded for the wrong
candidate. That's how vendors and clerks are safe to claim that there are
no problems DETECTED.

Interesting that the Bay County problems were with paper ballots, I'm
sure the Clerks are going to try and somehow spin as a pro-DRE
argument. Instead, what it emphasizes is the need to make sure the
counting system is verifiable to the public in addition to the voter's
verification that the ballot was cast correctly. Anyone know whose
system was used in Bay County?

Florida as the Next Florida

Four years after Florida made a mockery of American
elections, there is every reason to believe it could happen
again.
