RE: "Luddite" hand counting

Kell,

I’d love to hear your first-hand story.

When’s a god time?

My Fellow Americans,

I served as an election judge in the Tuesday April 6 Nederland election.  I also participated in the hand counting of the vote.  If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to meet and explain/describe in nitty gritty detail how a (or this particular) hand count worked.

I should add that I don't have a strong opinion one way or the other on whether Boulder County should hand count or not.  There are advantages/disadvantages to it.

Let me know if there is any interest.

Lou (et al),

I've cleared off all of the other remarks, which also have the taste of a
flame war, and left just this business about who poll workers are.
Bo ought to know about what being a poll worker is about, who's there, how
much they care, and how accurate (or not) they can be. There is nothing
disingenuous about his remarks about poll workers.
Perhaps you've been one as well. If not, then try it. If you've never been
on the 'inside' then I will bet you lunch that your perspective will be
inexorably altered.

When it's one AM and you're still knee deep in ballots you'll get the
picture. Yes, there are people that want to do this work, but are they
capable? A younger crowd would certainly have more stamina.

Everyone here has had the opportunity to become one of the volunteers (heck,
you even get paid). The only way that you are going to be able to gauge what
poll workers are capable of is to be one. It's also the best way to
understand the issues and procedures.

This is an insulting, unsupported, and arrogant ad hominum
generalization (typical of Limbaugh-type mentalities) of the vast
majority of dedicated and concerned citizens who devote their time for
public benefit.
