RE: Trustworthy Elections Resolution

Good news. I was at the Jeffco Dems Platform Committee tonight and spoke in defense of the Trustworthy Elections Resolution. They were amenable to listening and asked polite questions, but then got down to business of separating out all of the submitted resolutions passed out of precinct caucuses (hundreds). The most frequently submitted resolution was in the category of election reform, and there were half a dozen that passed the Trustworthy Election Resolution as written by Al and probably another 40 that summarized it or spoke about the issue in other terms. It far surpassed any other category of resolutions (water rights, taxes, healthcare, GLBT, WTO, environment, jobs, Iraq, etc.). This issue caught on fire in Jeffco! Since the chair of the Platform Committee and the County Chair both told me on the side their favorable opinion of this resolution, I have no doubts it will appear in some form on the resolution plank. Hopefully it does not get watered down. Jeffco is the 3rd largest Dem county, after Denver and Boulder, so it will have much clout in getting this added onto the state party plank in Pueblo at the end of May.

I have had feedback from both Dem and Rep caucus attendees who last night passed the Trustworthy Elections resolution.

The next step is to get the resolution adopted by each County Assembly.

A platform or resolutions committee usually prepares the material for the
County Assembly. Please contact your county party make sure that the
resolution is offered for a vote at your County Assembly.

Thanks for all that you are doing.

I am asking if anyone had any success in introducing the Trustworthy
Elections Resolution at your caucus meeting last night. (Thank you, Al
Kolwicz, for your hard work to make this happen).

Could you please reply to me with any comments or talking points, so we
might collect these stories and report upon them in our next weekly
newsletter for Coloradoans for Voting Integrity?

In Arvada I was able to address 30 Democratic precincts meeting in one
location and made copies available to all precincts for voting on this
resolution, which passed out of the majority of precincts. I have been
invited by the head of the Jefferson County Platform Committee to attend
their meeting this Thursday evening in Lakewood to present some background
information on this resolution so they may consider adding it to the
county's party platform document, for presentation at the county assembly
May 1st, and, upon adoption, to carry it to the state convention in Pueblo
next month.

I welcome any assistance in presenting this Thursday evening to the
Jefferson County Democratic Party Platform Committee, at 6:30 p.m. at the
party headquarters.

Coloradoans for Voting Integrity
