ACLU annual meeting Monday 7PM at law school

Folks,

I just talked to Boulder ACLU chair Barry Satlow. He said he would
bring up the voting situation at the ACLU's annual meeting this
Monday and invited us -or anyone else- to attend. The main topic of
the meeting is Boulder's intended changes to the Occupancy ordinance
(no more than 3 unrelated people per unit, in most places).

When I was on the ACLU board, this event attracted over 100 people,
so this is a great opportunity to get people thinking about the
issue -and to find a lawyer to get an injunction against electronic
voting until NIST standards are set.

I must point out that ONLY SEVEN citizens spoke at the hearing today
-that's WAY down from the 50 or so who've come before. I believe
this is because the discussions of this group are FAR too technical
for most people to follow. This has precluded our growth into a
group with clout. As I've said before, if we want to be successful,
we need a strong, understandable position. I've suggested:

"Hand-counted paper ballots until NIST electronic voting standards
are set."

If we'd had 100 people today, we might well have won.
