Much misinformation from election officials
Folks,
At last Friday's Plan Boulder meeting, County Clerk Linda Sales said
she thought that Commissioner Paul Danish's 1994 close primary loss
was finally re-counted by hand.
I just talked to Paul. He said that even after going to court, all
recounts were by the same DataVote electronic system. Linda might
have been confused because 12 problematic absentee ballots were
hand counted -but no others.
There has been a lot of more important misinformation from other
election officials. Colo. Sec'y of State Donetta Davidson said on
KBDI Wednesday night that no uncertified software had been used in
Colorado. Yet state Director of Election Bill Compton says it
happened here:
>it
>appears as if the GEMS Version 1.17.23 software upgrade used by
>Boulder County has not been certified by this office.
>Sincerely,
>Bill Compton
>Director of Elections

Al Kolwicz of Boulder today hand-delivered the proof to the SoS
office.
Again on KBDI:
Moderator: "What's the problem with just having electronic voting
that spits out a receipt? Why is that such a big deal?"
Faye Griffin: "It's fine with us, as soon as there is something
available. Right now there's not anything that's certified to do
that." (Faye is Jefferson County Clerk)
Yet there ARE certified paper voting systems from Avante & Acupoll.
