Al,
I believe that the absentee ballot problems that you and others have brought
to light in your emails over the past few days are significant, thorough,
and noteworthy, but that is not really my point. My point, by saying "the
fix is in," a phrase which I'm sure everyone has heard, is that it doesn't
really matter if absentee ballots are even more susceptible to fraud
(tampering, not being counted or whatever) than DRE's. The only real impact
that we can have on this election, this time around, is to disrupt it, and
make it more expensive for the State to conduct. Using the absentee ballot
would become a form of protest and maybe it would provoke a closer look at
the way absentee ballots are counted if the candidates are informed that in
this election there will be a ton of them. By no means am I saying that this
proposal is a final solution to the problem.
As far as proving my knowledge about absentee voting problems, that would be
irrelevant to this argument. You have already established superiority in
that area, and I have learned from what you and others have contributed to
this forum.
