Re: EAC Technical Guidelines Development Committee formed; meeting next Friday

Paul Walmsley wrote:

According to the Federal Register, the Election Assistance Commission has formed its Technical Guidelines Development Committee, as required by HAVA, and set its first meeting for July 9 in DC. This committee is charged with setting "voluntary voting system guidelines." The meeting is open to the public and is at the EAC's offices.

After years of little funding and official neglect, the EAC is having a celebrity lunch in Houston to tell us how they may try to set up an Executive Committee and search for a Director. Their 'Hot Topics' page is still as blank as the amount of significant work that the EAC has done toward trustworthy voting before the critical 2004 election.

As a result of the war, corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even in the midst of war.

Corporations will ultimately succeed in directing government itself. Under the American form of society, there is no authority capable of effective resistance.
