Commissioners, Clerk and Recorder to form committee to investigate
election delay
The Boulder County Commissioners and Clerk and Recorder today
announced they will name a seven-member investigation committee to
look into what caused the delay in receiving a final count of votes in
the Nov. 2 election and what can be done to ensure such a delay will
not happen in the future.
The committee will consist of distinguished members of the community
who may or may not have participated in the election process. Three
committee members will be appointed by the Clerk and Recorder's office
and four by the commissioners.
Persons interested in serving on this committee are invited to submit
a letter of application to the Boulder County Commissioners by Nov. 24
via e-mail (commissioners@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ) or mail (Election
Committee, c/o Boulder County Commissioners, P.O. Box 471, Boulder,
CO, 80306) The committee will be named shortly after Nov. 24 and they
will begin work immediately thereafter.
In addition to receiving testimony from vendors, the committee will be
looking at all aspects of the vote scanning and tallying process and
take testimony from election staff and judges who worked during the
election.
It is the intent and purpose of forming this committee to identify
problem areas that can be improved on to ensure that such delays will
not occur in future elections.
