Title:  Elections Office Manager
Salary Range:   $3,148– $4,533/month

Position works 40 hours/week except during the preparation for and conducting of elections, during which extensive additional hours will be necessary.

Description of the Work: Boulder County Clerk and Recorder’s Office, Elections Division has an opening for an Office Manager.  Duties will include: interacting with the two County Clerk Branch Offices on election matters, with the Secretary of State’s Office, representatives of the local municipalities, school districts, and special districts, the state and county political parties, and the general public; managing 4.5 regular staff members and approximately 100 temporary employees while preparing for and conducting an election, including hiring and overseeing staff; monitoring workflow and determining the temporary staffing needs; processing all staff and temporary staff time sheets; writing staff evaluations; participating in writing the office’s budget; monitoring the operating expenditures of budgeted funds; creating and overseeing the Inter Governmental Agreements, Polling Place Agreements, and contracts with election vendors; becoming familiar with and staying abreast of Colorado election laws; monitoring elections related legislation and interacting with the Secretary of State’s staff; working closely with the state and local political parties and with staff members from other Boulder County departments and agencies; serving as the primary contact for local office candidates, local issue group representatives; handling complex or unusual questions, requests, or problems from the public and performing related duties as requires. 

Qualifications:  High School graduation or equivalent, a minimum of three years of full time work in the field of elections or any equivalent combination of education and experience.   Prefer two years of management level experience, above average communication skills, people skills, organizational skills; a history of positive stress and crisis management is strongly desirable.  This position requires the ability to work independently, make sound decisions; and to be flexible.

Special Requirements:  The manager must become familiar with the basic elements of the voter registration and voting systems used by the office and will work closely with their associated vendors.
