All that keeps Boulder or anywhere else in CO from using the very cheap and
transparent Swiss Voting Method is Donetta Davidson.

Subject: Daily Camera Jan. 6 editorial: Low-tech voting systems may be best
I saw the Swiss Voting System presentation at the Boulder Library on Monday;
I liked what I saw and think the Boulder March election would be a great
opportunity to try it. While I have no election office experience, it seems
reasonable to suggest something like this *could* be implemented in *two
months*. Bureaucratic foot-dragging could, of course, derail such a
worthwhile experiment at this seemingly opportune time; this would be
unfortunate. This Daily Camera editorial very nicely sums up my feelings
about the system:
"...with expected low turnout... perfect opportunity to give it a shot, and
would cost less than using the county's clumsy optical-scan system. But even
if such an elegant system can't be used for the upcoming election, it's
encouraging that both city and county officials seem willing to consider one
for the future."
Indeed, the system seems *so* simple, efficient and elegant. As Joe Pezzillo
suggests, the whole vote-counting process could be broadcast (TV and
webcast) live from council chambers - talk about transparent elections and
voter confidence!
