Public should keep eye on committee
The Boulder County Elections Review Committee needs the participation of the
voters and volunteers who participated in the 2004 general election. If you
have a positive suggestion on improvements, especially if you helped in the
process, please come and speak to the committee.
The committee has been meeting for the past month and will continue until
April.
Each 1 p.m. Friday meeting at the county clerk's office provides two
opportunities for the public to be heard, plus an interesting journey into
the mechanics of elections.
In addition to the open meetings of the review, there will be two evening
meetings strictly for public comment, on Feb. 17 in the commissioners'
hearing room and on March 3 at a location to be announced. There was clearly
an issue with the tardiness of the election results, which received a good
deal of focus. Now that the issue has cooled for many, only but a handful of
voters are paying attention to this issue at the core of freedom in our
republic. Please come and participate in your government.
