RE: Fwd: New meaning to being "Observers" to an election...Is this what is in store for Colorado?

If you were on this committee or bothered to come to any of our meetings,
then you would know what independent means. The commissioners and the clerk
are not mandating the directions of our discussions. We have no ties in the
county, which is one of the reasons that there's been next to zero publicity
except for letters written by committee members and the press. The county
isn't advertising the work; isn't being involved in the work; and in general
terms, staying the hell away.

What is a giant pain is that we also have no power to require testimony.
There are several people that we would have liked to talk to that will not
appear. I think that you are one of them. But we can't force you.

I believe that there may have been a preconception that the issue that we
would be looking at was entirely a technical one. I think that we now
recognize that maybe only 40% of what we experienced was due to any
technical issues.
If there was an intent by the commissioners and clerk for the committee to
discern what the technical error was, then they can be rest assured that we
figured that out. But we have gone much further and probably beyond
expectations.

My hats off to those few people who came and participated in the review. I
think that those paying attention might take note of whose been
participating and keep that in mind the next time these people start
shouting from the rooftops. So few people have enough information to be able
to speak intelligently about the elections process. The people that have the
knowledge and experience are those that are involved in the process itself.

And then there are those that simply wish to stop it; confound it; and
nullify voters.

Paul,

Unless I am mistaken, there is no independent committee investigating the
elections.

There is a county appointed group studying why election results took longer
than hoped for.

This group is not independent, and is not investigating the elections.

We do not consider it a problem should secure, accurate and verifiable
elections take time.

And isn't it interesting now that there's an independent committee
investigating the elections, that you don't show up to speak about how you
were not allowed to observe. And we've never seen Al or any CAMBER people.

You can whine; piss; moan; and shout from the rooftops, but when given an
opportunity to actually make things better you don't show up. Neither you
nor Al.

Neal; Joe; & Richard. Possibly five people who've been activists. These
people actually want positive change - you want and will get anarchy.

To those of you who have not had the pleasure of being an observer at any
logic test, count, or canvass, let me assure you that - at least in Boulder
and at least at the times when I was present - an observer is too far away
from anything to observe anything other than the fact that something is
going on.

Argh!

This is something that Al Kolwicz has been complaining about for years and
years. It is satisfying to see - in a schadenfreude sort of way - that
others are now complaining about the same thing.
