ARAPAHOE COUNTY

Some Arapahoe voters receive duplicate ballots

Voters in at least four precincts in Arapahoe County were mistakenly sent duplicate ballots for the Nov. 1 election.

Arapahoe County Clerk and Recorder Nancy Doty said Tuesday that more than 100 Aurora residents called throughout the day to report that they had received two identical ballots in the mail.

She asked that voters mail in or drop off only one ballot in time for the election and destroy the duplicate ballot they received.

Doty said the duplicate mailings are a result of an error on the part of Sequoia Voting Systems, a vendor that the county contracts with to print and mail out ballots.

She said Sequoia is working with her office to determine the extent of the error and figure out how many people received double ballots.

Doty said that anyone attempting to vote twice would be stymied by the county's security protocols.

"There's no way people can vote twice," Doty said. "The election will be credible."
