(fwd) Re: Stop the internet voting bill

Dear friends:

The internet voting bill has passed out of the Colorado Senate.

It passed out of committee on a 7-0 vote. I imagine that the result was
similar on the Senate floor. (The vote has not been recorded at
http://www.leg.state.co.us/Clics2006A/csl.nsf/BillFoldersSenate?openFrameset)

It will likely be hard, but we really need to stop it in the Colorado House.
We need to convince the House that our men and women in uniform are fighting
to keep democracy safe and that this bill does exactly the opposite.

Dear Mr. Ralph Shnelvar:

Thank you for taking an interest in Senate Bill 06-62, which authorizes the
Secretary of State to establish procedures by which an absent uniformed
services elector may vote by electronic mail.

I understand the valid concern of security associated with Senate Bill
06-62.
I must inform you however that this bill was passed on the Senate Floor on
Monday, February 6, 2006. It has now been introduced in the House and
assigned
to the Committee of State, Veterans & Military Affairs.

Again, thank you for your attention and concern regarding Senate Bill 06-62.
I encourage you to contact your Representatives and share your opinions with
them.

Sincerely,

Shawn Mitchell
