Marty - below is what Al just forwarded from Josh.

And I hope the committee closely follows the very troublesome
situation in Texas, as noted by Joe. It is very important to see how
Hart treats its customers after the sale. The apparent contradictions
in Hart's statements and the press reports are very reminiscent of the
problems we encountered with the ballot specification and printing
debacle. It seems clear that that needs to be sorted out before a
prudent person would go forward with yet more equipment from Hart.
Remember our own sagas, the audit issues, and Hart's continuing
refusal to document their ballot requirements in a way that would
allow vendors besides themselves from bidding on printing ballots for
elections.

Subject: RE: Proposal Evaluation Committee

Mr. Kolwicz,

The RFP Evaluation Team is still drafting our recommendation to the Clerk
and expects that our work will be completed next week. As of this time,
future meetings have not yet been scheduled, but if you'd like, we can
certainly notify you when they are.

Once a recommendation has been adopted by the Evaluation Team, it will be
submitted to the Clerk. It will then be the Clerk's decision as to how to
proceed. It is hard to say when the Clerk will make a decision until
after she has received the team's official recommendation.

Thanks,

Josh
