HR 550 would require a voter verified paper record of every vote, establish 
mandatory random hand counted audits to verify the accuracy of electronic 
tallies, and prohibit the use of secret software and wireless communication 
devices in voting machines. This sensible, bipartisan legislation, will help 
safeguard our votes from loss or miscounts caused by computer "glitches", 
crashes, programming errors or fraud in electronic voting and vote counting 
systems.

HR 550 has already earned the bipartisan support of more than 165 Congressional 
cosponsors. The recent change in leadership of the Committee on House
