HAVA/DoJ Deferrment Follow-Up




To follow up, according to Al Kolwicz at CAMBER who contacted the DoJ, the gentleman there (Tanner) says that the first report is not true, but it's not clear that means there isn't an extension available (see the info on Connecticut below).

FYI, Re a HAVA deferment, only an SOS or equivalent state election
officer should call the Justice Department.  They will not tell
election activists that this option is available. Please do not call
and ask.  Call your state SOS instead or ask your local county clerks
to put pressure on their SOS to obtain one. They have to give a
deferment if the SOS asks because they have already given a deferment
to Connecticut and probably will to New York as well.
