Important Denver City Council Meeting
Voting Machines are an Issue in Denver
Amazingly, few City Council members feel that electronic voting is an issue because they have not heard from citizens.
We need lots of people to attend to show them that we do not trust electronic voting.
We have a public hearing before the Denver City Council on MONDAY regarding the acceptance of HAVA (Help America Vote Act) money. The most important aspect of this meeting is that a good turnout may lead us have another public hearing regarding Denver giving another million dollars to Sequoia for their voting machines.
This is a chance to begin to have an effect on the integrity of elections. Please attend as the more people the better. And,
please pass this on to any individuals or groups that would be interested. Whether you can attend or not
contact your City Council representative and voice your concerns about electronic voting machines and request a public hearing on the money Denver is proposing to send to Sequoia Voting Systems. Meeting Date: Monday, April 24, 2006 5:30 p.m.Final Consideration

Committee Consent Agenda Items*
for the week of April 17, 2006
General Government Committee Staff: Debra Bartleson 1) Approve an amendment to the Sequoia Voting Systems contract to add $918,431 for purchase of HAVA compliant equipment. *Special note: The contract between the City/Election Commission and Sequoia for the initial purchase of 80 compliant machines in the amount of $385,000 (includes software and technical assistance) to begin the process has not been finalized yet. The City Attorney’s Office anticipates that the contract would be finalized within the week. This amendment is running parallel to that initial contract so that when the agreement with the vendor is finalized this would be authorized so that the entire equipment purchase could proceed. At the March 14 General Government meeting, Commissioner Vaden indicated that a total of 240 machines would be purchased in preparation for the Vote Center plan. On first reading tonight – CB 249 – is the intergovernmental agreement between the City and the SOS for the purchase of the HAVA compliant voting systems.
