Boulder County Clerk and Recorder, three staff receive state certification

Boulder County Clerk and Recorder Linda Salas and three members of her staff
were awarded Colorado Election Official Certification last week after
completing a rigorous training program.

Certificates were handed out by Colorado Secretary of State Gigi Dennis
during the Colorado County Clerks Association Summer Conference, held in
Greeley. Clerk and Recorder staff who gained certification were: County
Clerk Linda Salas, Chief Deputy Nancy Jo Wurl, Elections Coordinator Josh
Liss and Administrative Supervisor Patricia Stahl.

"The clerks certification program has been designed to create uniformity
and consistency in the way elections are administered and managed across the
state," Dennis said. "The training they have received will help ensure the
integrity and transparency of elections in Boulder County."

The certification is part of an on-going training program established after
the federal Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA) was enacted. Boulder
County staff members had to complete 40 hours of training to be certified.
Courses included topics such as general election law, HAVA, and professional
development. All full-time Boulder County elections staff are currently
working toward fulfilling certification requirements.
