Judges find new machines daunting

BOULDER — The county’s new electronic voting machines are alienating  
dozens of election volunteers who find the computer-based terminals  
confusing and tough to carry, and that may cause a staffing shortage  
at the polls on Aug. 8.

About 100 of the 789 election volunteers who pledged to work the  
primary — many of whom are of retirement age and hesitant to operate  
computers or hoist heavy objects — jumped ship because they dislike  
the new machines, Boulder County election coordinator Josh Liss said."
