Dear CFVI and Friends,
If anyone out there in the election reform community believes that they have the expertise to address the issues of DRE and Ranked Voting systems, please call Rep. John Kefalas immediately about getting on the Voters Choice Task Force agenda for the upcoming Wednesday, October 17th meeting at the State Capitol.
Members of CFVI and other election reform groups will also be present as audience attendees/paticipants.
Thanks for your assistance,
Cary C. Lacklen

I appreciate the recent round of e-mails from various folks regarding the> upcoming Voter Choice Task Force meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, 10/17,> 1 - 4 PM at state Capitol, Rm. 0112. Obviously there is a lot of concern> and evidence around DRE voting machines and lack of voting> integrity/security.
After speaking with Cary last week, we agreed that the> focus of presentations would be on the capacity of current and future voting> technology (entire spectrum) to accommodate ranked voting systems like> instant runoff voting and what would be the costs associated with> transitioning to such AVMs. Regarding DRE Companies, I spoke extensively> with a ES & S representative on Friday and they will tell me (hopefully> today) whether or not they are going to have someone present. We discussed> that the focus would be to have the vendors present any concerns and issues> that they have with implementing AVMs relating to cost, certification issues> (EAC and State), other issues regarding any implemtation of AVMs and any> information regarding new technologies that tvendors can share in a public> forum.
I have not heard back from other three vendors doing business in> Colorado - Sequoia, Premier Election Systems and Hart Intercivic. I am> calling them today.>> It would be good to have persons in the audience or presenting with> expertise around technolocy and AVMs. I am trying to get all this finalized> today so we can have agenda sent out to task force members and outreach> list.
Let me know if you have further questions and how CVFI folks and> others will participate. Keeping in mind we are not going to really address> fundamental issues around voting integrity/sevurity, etc. Thank you.>>
Sincerely,>> John M. Kefalas
