So I just got off the phone with the Colorado Democratic Party who say that
while purges are happening in other states, they are not happening here.
They said that it was absolutely not true than former secretary of
state Donetta Davidson had 19.4% of Dems purged- a claim made by Gregg
Palast at stealbackyourvote.com. They also said that they have lawyers on
this issue. The "perfect match" statute is for new registrants only and they
are notified by the county clerk to clear up any discrepancies. 

I also spoke with the chief deputy county clerk Scott Thomas who said he was
not aware of any such activity either. And you can check the validity of
your registration  and track your vote via their website. I did this and it
was quite easy.

I still don't trust that everything is on the up and up and am going to do
some more research. I suppose that if it is escaping the awareness of the
Colorado Democratic Party lawyers we are in trouble. They are suggesting
that people volunteer as poll watchers. Danya just told me that their were
some rather nasty Republican watchers last election at her polling place. So
obviously we really need a Dem contingency out there. 

I just received this reply to an e-mail I sent to the CDP:

Dear Devin:
 
Thanks for your email.  The information you refer to is simply incorrect and
wrong.  No such purge has taken place in Colorado, and we have a cadre of
attorneys keeping a very close eye on anything like this that might occur.
We also have a very extensive Voter/Election Protection legal team
throughout the entire state to assist the state party and the campaign on
these matters.  Thanks!

I have no doubt that such efforts are underway some where in the country.
After-all, there is sufficient precedent. I guess we really need to be on
the look-out. I think I will next contact the Kennedy/Pallast organization
and ask them about their sources.
