I like this idea, if we could make it work in a voting population as 
large as Boulder County's. You might be able to pull this off in a 
smaller county. In areas east of midwest counties and townships are 
rather small and twisting the arms of the clerks is easier to do with 
such a protest.

If we could pull it off here it would be a great protest, but the 
clerk's would only know of it once or twice a year and could hope for 
change in the future. Hoping that the protest would blow over, and 
continue to *invest* in DREs.

I would suggest (as I bet Al would) that people who choose to vote 
absentee, should return their ballots by hand carry. I trust the clerk, 
but I don't trust the USPS.
