Graham bill, deadline provision
Re the provision on jurisdictions unable to meet the
11/04 deadline, the 9 page bill in this pdf:
http://www.senate.gov/~graham/MAT03_A72.pdf
says:
"Each State and jurisdiction that certifies ......that
it shall be unable to comply with the requirements of
section 301 in time for the regularly scheduled
general election for Federal office to be held in
November 2004 shall receive a paper voting system,
based on paper systems in use in the
jurisdiction...... deemed compliant by the Commission
for use in the November 2004 general elections. "

So again, bang out that short letter to Allard and
Campbell right away: http://www.senate.gov
We've got Udall on board HR2239 already, but the other
CO Reps need to get hammered by their constituents
around the state, as do Allard & Campbell now that
Graham's companion bill is in the Senate. But the
various regional VV groups know this, right?!? is
there some way we can help mobilize them with some
outreach?
This is a great webform where anyone in the US can
quickly send their Rep an HR2239 letter:
http://action.eff.org/action/index.asp?step=2&item=2821
and I'm hoping they'll put up a similar webform for
hitting Senators on Graham's bill now. Meanwhile,
email that webform url to everyone you know
nationwide, asking they take a moment to fill it out
and hit their Rep, and if they're ambitious, to also
write their 2 Senators via http://www.senate.gov. I've
also been posting it generously in blogs... the more
propagating it this way, the merrier!
