Public hearing on voting system moved to Jan. 29

The public hearing scheduled with the Boulder County Clerk and
Recorder before the Boulder County Commissioners has been rescheduled for 2
p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29 in the commissioners' hearing room, third floor,
Boulder County Courthouse, 14th and Pearl streets in Boulder.
The public hearing was rescheduled in order to allow for more time
for public comment and discussion of this important issue. Because the
commissioners had another agenda item scheduled for the afternoon of the
previous date, they felt it may have caused the public hearing on the voting
system issue to be cut short ? a possibility they wanted to avoid.
At the Jan. 29 public hearing, Boulder County Clerk and Recorder
Linda Salas is expected to recommend that the county purchase a paper
ballot-based voting system from Hart InterCivic for use in Boulder County
elections, including the 2004 primary and general elections.
Salas will make her recommendation to the commissioners, who are
responsible for approving the purchase, and Hart InterCivic Vice President
and General Manager Neal McClure will give a presentation on how the system
operates and answer questions.
The public is encouraged to attend.
