Re: CVV Legislative Efforts

4/30/04

To: Paul Tiger, Boulder County Commissioners,
Bo Shaffer, Libertarian Party, Citizens for Verifiable Voting

Paul:

I saw your public comments to the Commissioners after we'd had an off list discussion regarding your attacks on me, that I tried to be "friendly" to you after you repeatedly attacked me in public and in private may be worth noting.

I'm simply trying to set the record straight, where you broke it and apparently wish to distort it.

I don't just disagree with you, you were misrepresenting facts and I was hoping you'd be wise enough to correct yourself for the greater public good. This is not about my opinion or your opinion, it's about you making materially false statements either deliberately or because you had been misled, I presumed the latter since I knew you weren't present for any of the legislative efforts.

You can be wrong by yourself all you want (and I'm sure you are), the facts are what they are, and you inserted falsehoods into the public record.

For the record, CVV helped work on and promote legislation to correct problems with Colorado's election laws, this is a matter of fact. You claim you requested this on behalf of your party as did "others" and then you claimed CVV didn't take any such actions and intentionally hindered such efforts. Should your comments have impacted the Commissioner's decision, as we can only hope public comments do, you will have done the entire community a disservice by continuing the falsehoods you'd been fed, presumably by someone with an agenda against the citizenry. Given that you work for the County Elections Division and are a candidate for a local office, the public certainly has a direct interest in knowing who that might be.

Please let the public record reflect the dedicated efforts of CVV to ensure Trustworthy Elections at the State legislative level, and refute the misrepresentations inserted by Mr. Tiger.

Not that any of us expect we'll actually get honesty, let alone representation, from our government anymore.

In short reply to the long-winded accusations and meaningless diatribes -

I meant all the things that I said in my email to the commissioners. I have
supported legislation that some CVV members have challenged. Follow the law
or change it.

Because you don't agree with me doesn't make you correct or more correct
than me. I have an opinion. You have an opinion. One is not more valid than
the other based on volume.

I have no apologies to make. It is interesting that in private emails
so-called leaders of CVV are quite friendly and recognize the value of
difference. But on this list the schizophrenia pours off the page. Really
bizarre.
