I have voted by Absentee Ballot since the 1980's, but NOT by mail. Not
accepting the constitutionality of my polling place, for years I had to
apply for special exemption to the County Clerk to get my ballot, since
I was not planning to be absent from Boulder County. (Eventually she
changed the rules so that now anyone can get an Absentee Ballot for any
reason.) Then to be certain the ballot really got into a ballot box on
time, I've always delivered it by hand on election day.

Last November with the "mail-in" system, I didn't need to apply for an
Absentee Ballot. Instead our County's generous Sequoia computer sent me
two identical ballots (to my home address and to my P.O.Box address). I
appreciated the practice copy and was briefly tempted by the Digital
Evildoers to hand deliver both into the ballot box, but I had learned in
kindergarten that one person gets one vote (if counted that is) and I
resisted such temptation.
