I just spoke with Will Doherty of VerifiedVoting.org--will@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
--and verifiedvoting.org is now supporting all federal bills equally
but gives a technical breakdown of the bills features (it's up to the beholder
to understand what is good and not good).
The problem is that most people will get
confused--if they even look at the breakdown--and I and
others will have a hard time convincing people that S.1980 and HR2239 is
best. I used to say--go to verfiedvoting.org. Now I can only say,
look at the breakdown it seems to me that these bills are best.
I just emailed my opinion about this to Will (and
cc'd David Dill and pass2239): "Without your group,
Moveon, True Majority, Common Cause , etc.(who rely on verified voting.org's
expertise) telling their members what the best legislation is-- or
what to ask their representatives to change the language of their bill to make
it the best[a reference to 2313]-- the politicians will
choose the bill of the most pushy or popular politician, rather than the best
bill."
Here is a link to their new action page http://verifiedvoting.org/action/
It's not only that S.1980 and
HR2239 are the best bills but they are the only way to have all
states have verified voting and other crucial reforms by the election,
unless Hillary gets rid of waiver provision or narrows language to just lever
machines in 2313
They also took off the EFF links to the
free faxes for HR2239 and S.1980 (which are good for lazy/busy
people--Will said that he wasn't sure those links are still good
and that he thought EFF might change their strategy too but I
just looked and they are still there. Maybe EFF should be contacted as
well to ask them not to take down these free faxes for the best bills

I
know they VerifiedVoting.org does a lot of great stuff and they feel this is
best somehow--I wonder if it's a fear of Hillary Clinton! (because of some
other feedback I got from someone else)--but if you have feelings
about this maybe you should let verifiedvoting.org know too. They are
supposed to make an official statement soon and maybe if enough people think
it is a bad idea they will change their minds.
Thanks Cheryl
