RE: Fwd From Ellen @ VotersUnite

Of course I concur that we support this. However, this appears as a federal issue. We should support it for all ballots in all elections.

As discussed, and brought home again for me last night, local issues: initiatives and referendums, are equally important.

Voters are concerned for this election at a presidential level, which can blind them to the overall issue of all elections.

One might assume that this citizen’s initiative means that, but elections officials could conceivable count only presidential races at the polls and send the ballots to a central location for tallying of all other races. Don’t put it past government to find the most costly and complex way to do the least amount of work.

This was sent to the CVV "steering committee" (info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) last night, and of course they want an answer today so they can put it in their release tomorrow.

Seems like the kind of thing that CVV participants have generally supported, in so far as we're seen as some kind of "group", should I tell her "yes" ?
