March 9: NIST reports on VVPATs, voting security, etc for EAC/TGDC
The Technical Guidelines Development Committee (TGDC) of the Election
Assistance Commission is meeting this Wednesday. Their materials are
online, and you can see the agenda and listen in by webcast via this
site:
http://www.eastbaymedia.com/tgdc-march/
Some of the more interesting presentations from NIST experts are
these:
Preliminary Report: NIST Approach to VVPAT Requirements for the VSS
2002 Addendum (John Wack)
Preliminary Report: NIST Approach to Usability and Accessibility
Requirements for the VSS 2002 Addendum (Sharon Laskowski)
Preliminary Report: NIST Approach to Software Distribution and Setup
Validation for the VSS 2002 Addendum (Nelson Hastings)
Preliminary Report: NIST Approach to Direct and Indirect Verification
for the Next Version of the VSS (John Kelsey)
Preliminary Report: NIST Approach to Security Testing for the Next
Version of the VSS (John Kelsey)
The memos supporting those presentations are available thru:
http://vote.nist.gov/TGDC/MeetingMaterials.html
I only see them linked to from this pdf(!) file:
http://vote.nist.gov/TGDC/WorkProductWeb%20Page.pdf
though a good-old html file would seem much better.
Also, according to http://vote.nist.gov/TGDCsubworksched.htm
The meetings will be recorded and an audio .mpeg file will be
available at the conclusion of each meeting at
http://vote.nist.gov/Hearingsand Transcript.htm [?]. We encourage public
comment/input on the meetings. Input can be mailed directly to:

Good material to get some traction on! Share your insights on our
