Vote centers coming?

Boulder County election enthusiasts have been invited to weigh in on  
the process to select new equipment for the 2006 election, but time  
is of the essence.

The County released a draft Request For Proposal (RFP) document  
Thursday, detailing criteria that voting system vendors must meet to  
win the County's business in 2006. The 40-page draft is available on  
the County Web site, www.co.boulder.co.us/clerk/elections and  
citizens have until 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28 to submit written  
comments.

The RFP will ask potential vendors to submit prices for equipment and  
services, including scanners, Direct Record Electronic (DRE) touch- 
screen voting machines, maintenance, technical support and equipment  
used in precinct polling places or vote centers.
