RE: Commissioner's meeting NOT for Hart System

I will disagree on what is needed for staffing. BoCo has less than a 3rd of
the staffing of counties smaller than it. there is lots of work to be done,
and you'll get no argument from me about Linda not up for the task, But ...
more staff is needed.

There's a problem though with who does the hiring. And the problem is
widespread. They need to hire tech weenies and they don't know an acoustical
engineer from a stationary engineer.
Question is, will the new staffers shadow the retiring staff and learn from
them, or will they end up spending the next year doing minor data entry
tasks?

My source is still a good authority, but was wrong today, today's
meeting was just about changes to the supplemental budget for 2 1/2
new staff people in the elections office.

Mary Eberle and I were both in attendance, I didn't really check to
see anyone behind me during the mostly uneventful half hour meeting.

Apparently, part of the reason we need to hire more staff (other than
the general poor planning of the Clerk's office) is that Linda Salas
stayed up all night doing data entry during the election
season...what a great executive level manager, eh?

And something about voters not being educated well enough by Linda,
so we need to hire someone to do it (I hope that's not because she
misappropriated that voter education money and spent it on Hart
support in 2004).
