Strong support from League of Women Voters of New York!

"Rush to Judgment on Voting Machines Risks Electoral Chaos in 2006"

The League of Women Voters of New York, New Yorkers for Verified
Voting and other groups are supporting New York's efforts to go for
quality rather than sinking lots of money this year in untried
solutions.

I'm especially happy to see the League on board there, after lots of
criticism of the National LWV over their opposition to paper audit
trails, etc.

"The lawsuit filed on March 1, 2006 by the United States Department
of Justice threatens to completely erode the process that would
ensure the security and integrity of the citizen's vote in New York
state. Although the Federal Government has an obbligation to enforce
the Help America Vote Act (HAVA), we must not lose sight of the fact
that the citizen has a fundamental constitutional right to an
accurate and secure vote." said Marcia Merrins, President, League of
Women Voters of New York State.
