It's a significant improvement only if you want to completely squelch
political speech.
The 527's are the only place left that I know of where someone like me can
make an anonymous donation to a campaign that I support.
Why is there this headlong rush to institutionalize political retribution?
Without 527's we will also help create a permanent political class who will
know with certainty who their friends are. "Oh! You contributed to my
opponent. Forget me voting for anything you might want."
Of course this bill will pass since it is in the interest of every elected
official to eliminate any hint of competition.
