Re: State Supreme Court and ballots as open records

Hi All,

Today the State Supreme Court determined that the Court of Appeals ruling in favor of Marilyn Marks and against Aspen will stand.

The State Supreme Court had agreed to take the case on appeal by Aspen, but now that the justices have read the two arguments, they have changed their minds and now will not hear the case. That means Marilyn has won and won big! It is a win for all who want our voted ballots to be secret (in that they cannot be traced back to us, also termed anonymous) and open records so that we can review them after they are tabulated to be sure that the machine counting worked.

Thank you for your kind support during this fight. I am so relieved. It was a big surprise--not that they agreed with Marilyn and "our side" but that they decided it was such a clear win for her that they didn't need to review it.

Best,

Mary

I think Marilyn Marks winning big is a big win for the people of Colorado and a step toward more verifiable voting!

Kudos and thanks to you and the others who worked so hard for this win!

Thanks also for the PDF of the court order,
Lou
