I must admit that Udall is a master politician. He has converted a possible
political liability (opposition to 2239) to a "I support democracy!"
position that will play well with his constituents.
Of course, he did so at the last possible moment knowing full well that his
support of 2239 is quite irrelevant since 2239 is not likely to make it out
of committee.
He has also made it politically impossible for supporters of 2239 to do any
sort of political protest at his (Udall's) footstep.
You've just got to admire the hereditary heir to the Kingdom of Boulder for
his political adeptness.
So, folks, is there another target for protest? What comes to mind is that
we bang pots in front of the Secretary of State's (SoS) office (the Denver
Post Plaza). We could demand that she do what the California SoS has done.
Who knows? We might even get some press.
