Next Steps: December
Greetings All!
I have been asked by several folks what our next steps are, and here
are some things I propose:
KEEP PRESSURE ON COMMISSIONERS
Until they make a decision, we have to keep pressure on the
Commissioners to choose paper ballots ONLY. All the same methods are
still in play, contact them, write letters to the editor, contact the
media, additional citizen outreach (eg, the petitions are wonderful).
One way, you may wish to attend the Citizen's Committee meeting this
coming Friday at 9am at the Clerk's office on 33rd.
Also, we will want to participate in the Public Hearing that Danish
announced on 12/4
MERGE/MIGRATE WITH STATE-WIDE GROUP?
Once we are successful in Boulder County, many of our members who are
still concerned about this and other related issues (like the
ePollbook), may wish to begin working at the State-wide level, and one
way to do that is to become a part of Bob McGrath's group, Coloradans
for Voting Integrity, which will be having a meeting tomorrow (TUE 12/9
EVENING IN GOLDEN), see
<http://www.countthevotecolorado.org/cfvi/000020.cfm> for details and
directions.
PREPARE OUR MATERIALS FOR OTHER COMMUNITY GROUPS
Also, we need to package the collective wisdom that we've developed in
meetings, on our mailing list, the website and presentations into a
format that other communities both in Colorado and nationwide can use.
Certainly some of this will involve the website, but we may also want
to prepare CDROMs or a DVD/VHS of our efforts, as well. This will take
some time and effort, but it's a crucial thing for us to do to help our
hard work have a much broader impact.
And, we should probably try to figure out when we can have our next
meeting. Does anyone have suggestions? I've heard some say we need to
meet still now while the fire is hot, and others who think we can wait
until after the New Year. I will be sparse during January, but glad to
meet when I can to keep our momentum going.
Thanks again to everyone who has been working so hard on this issue!
Joe
