RE: involving other orgs
The Coloradoans for Voting Integrity hopes to work towards a similar
proclamation that can resemble your statement of principles which was
endorsed by the 4 political parties. We plan to reach out to groups
concerned with enfranchisement issues, such as ACLU, Common Cause, civil
rights groups, and the League of Women Voters. In addition we hope to
approach the state political parties, political campaigns and state
legislators, in addition to election officials, to replicate your
county-wide approach.
We encourage and invite your participation in helping make this happen, and
particularly also invite you to join us at our meeting Tuesday, December 9th
(tomorrow evening) at our offices in Golden, at 2801 Youngfield, Ste 360,
Golden, 80401 (near 32nd & Youngfield south of Applejack Liquors) from 7-9
p.m.
At this meeting we will be listing priorities for action items for a
year-long campaign leading up to Election 2004 in November, and will be
seeking volunteers to assist with development of materials, to help build
our organization and reach out to build coalitions, and to help develop ways
of delivering our message.
For more information on this group or this meeting, please visit our NEW web
site (still in development) and click upon the Meeting icon to RSVP or learn
more. Our web site is http://www.countthevotecolorado.org
Thanks!

Subject: involving other orgs
A month ago Mark Sweitzer sent this to the list. First, it belongs in our
web archive, so I am reposting it. Secondly, now that we've made our first
big public presentation, and have had some luck with the press, it needs
follow-up.
Time to beat the bushes (not that Bush)

I think this approach can lead to success when it's organized by a coalition
of prominent organizations. If the BCCVV can draft a resolution in similar
format to this, and then get it approved and endorsed by many other
organizations, political parties, and government bodies, then it carries
much more clout then just originating from a "focus group" like ours.
A few suggested organizations:
-Boulder City Council
-Boulder County Democratic Party
-Green Party of Colorado
-Rocky Mountain Peace and Justice Center
-Colorado Communities for Justice and Peace
-Colorado Progressive Coalition
-key State House reps
-U.S. Reps. Udall and DeGette
-The Daily Camera; Colorado Daily
-etc. etc.
