Re: FW: LP adds Voter Verified Paper Ballot to the Platform

I am sincerely impressed that the Libertarians have done this from the top down (no doubt with much local and state level input).

Simple can be >good<, (especially the term "of record"), but I would have also liked >better< inclusions such as "to avoid inaccuracy" and "any voting system software must use open source code".  Mayhaps the LP will have some influence on other national parties.

A good first step - next we need better second steps on the long, slow slog down the road through our quagmires back to trustworthy voting.

The Libertarian Party is leading the way to trustworthy elections!

Their 2004 platform says, To avoid fraud and manipulation, electronic voting systems must use a voter verified paper ballot as the ballot of count, recount, audit and record.”

Clean and simple, Libertarians are demanding a true paper ballot – not a practically useless “paper receipt”.

We need the other national political parties to adopt this plank in their platform.
