Re: [stopvotefraud] Re:June 2-4 "Take Back America Conference" in DC

I'd like to point out that the declared purpose for the email list stopvotefraud is to discuss strategies to mobilize support for HR 2239 and S 1980. Since my Congressman, David Price, has since introduced HR 4250, to prevent a repeat of the 2000 election purges of large numbers of minority voters alleged to be convicted felons, I add support for that bill to the purposes of the list.

As owner of stopvotefraud, I request that the CAMBER group desist from their argument on stopvotefraud at least until after the November election, and pursue it on other lists on which such argument is welcome. (I would guess that that would not include the lobbyists list of verifiedvoting.org) If, however, they are able to get a bill introduced in Congress, or even in the Colorado state legislature, that meets their criteria, I am sure we would all like to hear about it.

I was the one, I think, who first sent a message both to stopvotefraud and lobbyists. For reducing volume, I suggest that this be done only rarely, and that individuals generally not engage in argument on the list, but pursue it with messages to each other. Also, please avoid sending more than one message a day to stopvotefraud.

There are other lists and forums for ideological debate, questioning of the purposes of our campaign, etc. I thought that the insights of Mr. Kolwicz and his colleagues were important. Indeed, I agree with their analysis, except that, as Prof. Dill has pointed out, their insisting on it undermines all our efforts to prevent major vote counting errors or fraud in the critical 2004 election.

The purpose of stopvotefraud is not to seek the truth, but to achieve results. In politics, perfect solutions are seldom achieved. We have all known for a long time that HR 2239 is imperfect, and people tried to work with Senator Boxer to come up with a better bill. We try, but do not always succeed.

I note, however, that HR 4250 is almost everything that I wanted it to be. The exception: I had wanted 60 days' notice to voters purged from the roles, and the bill has 30 days' notice.

I will be in Washington without a laptop until June 8, so can not intervene if the argument continues. I hope that it will not, at least not on stopvotefraud.
