Re: Students w/o Colo. ID can't vote!

Evan,

During the primary there were many forms of ID that could be used:

# Colorado drivers’ license
# ID card issued by the Colorado Dept. of Revenue
# Current U.S. Passport
# Employee ID with your picture, issued by any federal, state or local government entity or other Colorado political subdivision
# Pilot’s license issued by the FAA or other U.S. authorized agency
# U.S. military ID with your picture on it
# Copy of a current (no more than 60 days old) utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows the name and address of the elector on it (a cable television bill does NOT meet this requirement)
# Medicare or Medicaid card
# Certified birth certificate issued in the U.S.
# Certified documentation of naturalization

See http://www.co.boulder.co.us/clerk/elections/current/id.htm

I do not pretend to see the logic in the use of a birth certificate, for example, but there it is. I think we need to inform students to check the Web site of the county clerk in the county that they will be voting in.

All the best,
Mary Eberle

Folks,

I ran into Boulder County Public Defender Carey Lacklin -who I
recruited last Spring for our lawsuit against the Secy of State- who
told me that students (anyone really) without Colorado ID won't be
allowed to vote, even tho they didn't need CO ID to register!

This is going to be mayhem on Nov. 2! When many of those extra
thousands who've registered this year are prevented from voting,
they will clog the polls, the courts, etc.

How do we get out the message that every out-of-state student has to
get Colorado ID to vote??

Evan
