I have worked as a supply judge in a Lafayette precinct. The polls are open from 7am to 7pm.
The judges must start work before 6am in order to have everthing ready for the 7am opening.
After the polls close, there is more work to do that would keep the judges from actually
starting the count the votes until about 8pm or later, if things don't check out. Are you
suggesting that the judges then count the ballots? Or will another crew come in to do the
counting? On election day I'm up by 5am, and I'm tired by 8pm. I don't think I could be
a reliable vote counter then. I don't think anyone could be. So I would prefer that the
vote count be done by other people, not the judges. But I see problems with that. It seems
unrealistic to me.
